Weekly Message: Nov 7
Hello Kindergarten Families,
It was great to have a full week of Kindergarten!
Our learning from this week:
We had an Assembly for Remembrance Day. Through books and conversations, we learned about the symbolism of the poppy and the concept of peace, which we drew about in our journals. We also showed gratitude to our Veterans by making Poppy Postcards to say thank you to them which I will deliver to a legion this weekend.
We sorted objects in math using different rules (size, shape, colour.) Ask your child about sorting and encourage them to use a rule to sort objects at home or outdoors.
We opened our medical centre this week. The children worked collaboratively to choose roles (patient, receptionist, doctor, nurse, radiologist etc.) and to use their imaginations about being at a doctor's office.
In Science we started the year learning about farm environments. We have now shifted to thinking about forest environments. I added some forest creatures and natural specimens to our nature centre.
Reminders:
Swimming forms due back ASAP.
Communication Folders (check them for forms, classwork, and messages). Please removed all student work each night, to make it easier for me to look for notes and returned forms.
Please email your teacher if you are able to volunteer for swimming! It's a tight turnaround and we need all the help we can get. :)
Fall break starts Monday and continues through Wednesday. See you back at Kindergarten on Thursday next week.
ART CARD ORDERS ARE DUE BY NOVEMBER 11th on-line.
Have a great LONG weekend!
Mrs. Wacker
