Weekly Message: October 3rd

 Hello Kindergarten parents,

We introduced Mrs. Kinnear to our class this week.  Welcome!

We explored our science concepts on types of environments and senses to think about the LAND we live on.  Last week we learned about the indigenous roots of this area.  We contrasted pictures of native prairie and of today's farm environments.  We used our examining skills to look at real photos and help us identify living/non-living, as well as, natural/man-made components. We used these concepts to inspire our 'farm environment painting' which we made for our art card project.  In this project, we learned about the horizon line separating the sky and the land as well as practiced painting skills including proper grip, following guide lines and using broad back and forth and up and down strokes to make a smooth background.

On the second day, we used stamping techniques to add objects found in farm environments.

This week we also met our grade 3/4 buddies.  They played some outdoor games with us and helped us prepare for the Terry Fox Run.

We watched a video from the Terry Fox Foundation to help us understand who Terry Fox was, to learn about the incredible goals he set.

Currently a strike is scheduled to start on Monday so there will be no school.  Please monitor your emails to learn when school will resume.  We hope it is as soon as possible! When we resume, we will be starting in our new smaller classes.
